Workshop Description: The workshop "my worst arrhythmia nightmare" will include 3 case-based presentations and cover the following topics: 1) Indications for anticoagulation in patients with subclinical atrial fibrillation (AF). 2) Risks and contra-indications of antiarrhythmic drugs as well as appropriate follow-up of patients taking antiarrhythmic drugs. 3) Evaluation of patients with conduction or rhythm disorders and neuro-muscular disease.
Generally, there is a limited appreciation of a rational approach to these particular arrhythmia cases. This workshop will fulfill the learning needs of those seeking a comprehensive and practical approach to these difficult arrhythmia cases. Difficult arrhythmia cases like those addressed in this workshop are a frequent challenge to all involved in the clinical management of patients. Workshop participants will also learn how to interpret the ECG tracings in such cases, to manage arrhythmias in patients with neuro-muscular disorders, to identify indications for anticoagulation in patients with device-detected AF as well as identify risks and contra-indications to the different antiarrhythmic agents used in clinical practice.
