Dr. Lachapelle is a Cardiac Surgeon at McGill and the McGill University Health Centre. As Adair Chair he is responsible and oversees all Surgical Education at the University including Undergraduate, Postgraduate as well as Fellowship training. He developed two Master concentrations for the Department of Surgery; one in Education and the other in Innovation. He is the founder of the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning, a multidisciplinary and inter-professional Centre of simulation excellence which opened in 2006. Dr. Lachapelle was Program Director for Cardiac Surgery and is actively involved in curriculum development, teaching, and assessment. He is a consultant for the Royal College of the Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is an International Educator. At the American College of Surgeons, he sits on the Accreditation Committee for Educational Institutes. Dr Lachapelle has been recognized for his leadership and has won the John Reudy Award for Innovation in Medical Education and McGill University’s David Johnston Award
