Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology

Dr Karan Saraf is a fellow in cardiac electrophysiology at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute in Calgary, Alberta. Having completed his cardiology fellowship at the Manchester University Hospitals, Manchester, UK, Dr Saraf went on to undertake a PhD in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Manchester, UK, investigating sinus node disease and its role in the atrial arrhythmia substrate using ultra-high density electroanatomic mapping, as well as comparing ablation lesion formation between different ablation technologies. He subseqeuently carried out a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Manchester University Hospitals, Manchester, UK, before moving to Calgary, Alberta to gain further procedural experience in EP. His interests lie in arrhythmia mechanisms, 3D mapping, and inherited cardiac conditions.
Outside of medicine he is a keen outdoors enthusiast, hiker, photographer, and a passionate snowboarder and backcountry explorer/tourer, holding a level 2 snowboard instructor certification from the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors, and Avalanche Safety and Rescue Training from Avalanche Canada.
