Clinical Research Coordinator

Ayah Rashwan completed her BHSc with Honours in 2024 and has been conducting clinical research at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute since 2023 under the Division of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation. She began her research under Dr. Heather Tulloch, a clinical psychologist specializing in behavioral medicine, and later transitioned to work with Dr. Hassan Mir’s research team in 2024.
Ayah has contributed to several projects on smoking and vaping cessation, hypertension, program evaluation, heart failure, and caregiver perspectives. Her research interests include cardiovascular prevention, behavioral medicine, and clinical outcomes. She is passionate about advancing knowledge translation and promoting patient-centered approaches to cardiovascular care.
In addition to her research responsibilities, Ayah serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator and Nicotine Addiction Coach with Dr. Mir’s team, where she supports patients through motivational interviewing and evidence-based strategies to facilitate sustainable behavior change.
Ayah has presented her work at national conferences, including the Canadian Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (CACPR) in 2024 and 2025, where her abstract was recognized among the Top 5 Oral Presentations in Calgary. She has also presented at the 17th Annual Ottawa Conference on Smoking Cessation.
