Medical Student
Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary , Canada
My name is Catie Jarvis, and I am currently a first-year medical student (Class of 2028) at the Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary, Alberta. I am originally from Montreal and completed a BSc in Physiology (2023) at McGill University before moving to Edmonton, Alberta to complete an MSc in Translational Medicine (2025), specializing in clinical interventional cardiology research at the University of Alberta in association with the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. My thesis looked at recovery from Transcatheter Aortic Valve Insertion (TAVI) in the context of returning to driving post procedure. In the medical sphere, I have employment experience as a research project manager with the McGill Simulation Centre, working to create updated surgical clerkship curriculum for medical students (published at McGill Medical School in Aug 2023). I also held the role of research coordinator at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute from Jan 2024 to May 2025, assisting nurses, physicians, and patients in various cardiology clinical trials. When I am not studying, I love any excuse to be outdoors, and Alberta has certainly privileged me with an abundance of mountains, rivers, trees, trails, and wildlife.
