Cardiac Surgery Fellow
IUCPQ, Canada
I am an Italian cardiac surgeon currently completing a fellowship in cardiac surgery at the Institut Universitaire de Cardiologie et de Pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ), Université Laval, in Canada. I earned my specialty degree in Cardiac Surgery from the University of Pavia in 2023 with highest honors, after graduating cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Turin.
My clinical and surgical training has been extensive and multidisciplinary, with rotations in general, thoracic, vascular, and pediatric cardiac surgery at leading Italian institutions. I have gained comprehensive experience in the surgical treatment of complex cardiac pathologies, heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support (LVAD, ECMO). I also developed advanced expertise in managing chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), including performing pulmonary endarterectomy—a field in which I have achieved significant clinical autonomy.
I have presented my work at national and international conferences and co-authored several peer-reviewed abstracts on topics such as CTEPH, pulmonary artery sarcomas, and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy surgery.
In addition to clinical activity, I have contributed to academic research as a sub-investigator in multicenter Phase III trials on novel pharmacologic treatments for inoperable or recurrent CTEPH. I also served as a thesis advisor for medical students and remain committed to academic development.
