Pierce Nelson is a second-year medical student at the University of British Columbia with a strong background in biomedical research. He holds both a BSc and MSc, during which he focused on kidney transplantation research, investigating strategies to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury using both cellular and animal models. His work has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences, including the American Urological Association. He also received competitive research funding, including the CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s, awarded to less than 1% of Canadian graduate students.
Pierce’s current research interests are focused on advancing evidence-based approaches in cardiovascular medicine, with ongoing work in systematic reviews and meta-analyses in cardiology. At the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress, Pierce will present his latest research, sharing insights that connect bench science with clinical practice.
