David Nelson is currently a PGY-5 Adult Cardiology Resident at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He obtained his Royal College certification in Internal Medicine as well as his medical degree (MD) from the University of Manitoba. David's research and career interests are rooted in heart rhythm disorders; he is currently involved in clinical trials on demedetomidine in ventricular eletrical storm, cardiac CT-guided cardioversion for patients with new atrial fibrillation in the emergency department. He is also the University of Ottawa Core Internal Medicine ECG Curriculum Leader, organizing several ECG teaching sessions for Internal Medicine residents and is writing a manuscript on establishing a formal ECG curriculum for Internal Medicine Residents in Canada. He will be pursuing a fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
