Dr. Oumara Alajlouni is a physician and current Internal Medicine Resident at the University of Toronto, with a strong academic foundation and a growing passion for cardiology. Originally trained at the United Arab Emirates University, where he graduated with distinction, Dr. Alajlouni has pursued advanced clinical training in both Canada and the UAE, including residency at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City – Mayo Clinic.
His clinical experience spans acute inpatient medicine and high-acuity cardiac care, including multiple rotations in cardiac intensive care units across Toronto’s leading hospitals (Toronto General, Sunnybrook, and St. Michael’s). He has been recognized with the SMH Division of Rheumatology Award of Excellence for his dedication to clinical excellence and compassionate, patient-centered care.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Alajlouni is deeply engaged in cardiovascular research. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in JACC: Case Reports, Frontiers in Public Health, and other journals, covering topics such as coronary vasospasms in EGPA, Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and healthcare workforce well-being. His upcoming projects explore artificial intelligence in heart failure and diagnostic strategies for cardiac amyloidosis.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Alajlouni is passionate about medical education and innovation. He co-founded MedEdCR, a globally accessible, student-led learning platform offering case-based educational content, and serves as a member of the Resident Interest Group in Medical Education at the University of Toronto.
