Resident
University of Manitoba
My name is Dr. Rohan Sanjanwala, and I am a third-year Internal Medicine resident at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. I completed my MD at I.P. Pavlov State Medical University and later earned a Master of Public Health in Clinical Trials and Epidemiology from the University of Saskatchewan.
My academic interests lie in cardiovascular medicine and health systems research. As a Clinical Research Associate with the Cardiac Sciences Program at St. Boniface Hospital, I contributed to randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and retrospective studies. My current project, the “TIE Fighter” study, evaluates the impact of healthcare quality metrics on outcomes in patients with infective endocarditis. I have also published and presented on topics including heart failure therapies, perioperative outcomes, vascular physiology, and cardiovascular infectious diseases.
In addition to research, I am passionate about resident advocacy and education. I serve as Secretary of the Professional Association of Residents and Interns of Manitoba (PARIM) and Chair of its Communications & Outreach Committee, where I work to support rural residents, promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, and improve engagement across the residency community. I also enjoy mentoring medical students and junior residents in research, clinical reasoning, and procedural skills.
Clinically, I am pursuing subspecialty training in Cardiology, with a particular interest in advanced heart failure and transplantation. I have trained in high-acuity cardiology environments in Manitoba, British Columbia, and Alberta, where I gained valuable experience in intensive cardiac care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
