Jean-Philippe Gouin, PhD is a clinical psychologist, a former Tier II Canada Research Chair in Chronic Stress and Health, and a full professor of psychology at Concordia University in Montréal. His research program investigates the psychological, behavioural, and physiological pathways through which exposure to chronic psychosocial stress across the lifespan increases risk for cardiovascular diseases. His intervention work examines how to use motivational interviewing to promote health behavior change in couples at risk for cardiovascular diseases and how to combine cognitive-behavioural therapy and exercise training for the treatment of insomnia comorbid to obstructive sleep apnea.
