Robert Lao is an MD-PhD student at the University of Toronto. Previously, he completed his undergraduate studies specializing in Molecular Genetics & Microbiology at the University of Toronto. Robert is currently completing his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Mansoor Husain and Dr. Osami Honjo, supported by numerous scholarships including a CIHR Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship and Education Fund Doctoral Awards from the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research. His doctoral research focuses on developing translational models to test innovations aimed at enhancing cardioprotection during long and complex paediatric cardiac surgery.
