Thor Sundt, MD, is the Edward D. Churchill Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Mass General Brigham. and Women’s Hospital. He co-directs the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center at MGH. A graduate of Princeton University and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he trained at the MGH and Washington University in St. Louis as well as Harefield Hospital. He has been on faculty at Washington University and Mayo Clinic before accepting the position as Division Chief at MGH. Since his return to Boston, he has focused on establishing a culture of teamwork and collaboration as the foundation upon which successful clinical, educational and research programs can be cultivated. The evolution of the Mass General Brigham Enterprise affords an opportunity and challenge to shape a common culture among the providers across two traditionally competitive sites for the benefit of patients, providers and trainees.
