PhD Student
University of Calgary
My name is Rashmin Hira and I’m a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Calgary. My research project is centered around autonomic nervous system dysfunction in Long-COVID with characterization of the patient experience. Specifically I have published on the prevalence of disorders of the autonomic nervous system as well as attenuated sympathetic and parasympathetic tone in Long-COVID. I am also assessing Long-COVID and recovery and potential non-pharmacological interventions (i.e., dietary salt) for day-to-day symptom management for patients with Long-COVID. My project also involves qualitative focus groups to explore the economic/educational, social, and financial impacts of Long-COVID. My overall goal is to become a cardiovascular clinical investigator and continue working in the Long-COVID research field.
