Dr. Roberto Ribeiro is originally from Brazil, where he completed medical school and a residency in General Surgery at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He subsequently earned a PhD at the University of Toronto, with a research focus on novel myocardial preservation strategies for heart transplantation. Dr. Ribeiro then completed his residency in Cardiac Surgery at Dalhousie University, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Mitral Valve and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at Maastricht University Medical Center in the Netherlands. He has now returned to Nova Scotia to join the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the Halifax Infirmary.
