Nitish K. Dhingra received his Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from McMaster University in 2019, and subsequently graduated from the MD Program at the University of Toronto in 2023. He is currently a resident in the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is also pursuing a PhD through the Surgeon-Scientist Training Program at UofT under the supervision of Dr. Vivek Rao, Dr. Phyllis Billia, and Dr. Yasbanoo Moayedi. His clinical interest include the surgical management of advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock, including mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. His research efforts surround the prediction and prevention of primary graft dysfunction (PGD) after heart transplantation, and specifically the role of novel preservation therapies for reducing the burden of PGD. He aims to study these topics through advanced clinical research including randomized trials, target trial emulation, and supervised machine learning.
