This activity will give healthcare professionals the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the cardiovascular benefits of GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) beyond weight loss, including their effects on heart failure and cardiovascular risk factors, as well as familiarize themselves with key clinical trial data demonstrating their impact on major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). The activity aims to address knowledge and skills gaps by promoting evidence-based integration of GLP-1RAs into patient treatment plans in line with guideline-directed therapy practices.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session participants will be able to:

Explain the cardiovascular benefits of GLP-1 analogues beyond weight loss, including effects on heart failure, atherosclerotic disease, and key cardiometabolic risk factors;
Analyze pivotal cardiovascular outcomes trial data on GLP-1 analogues, including their impact on major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and heart failure, to guide evidence-based treatment decisions; and
Implement practical, guideline-aligned strategies for integrating GLP-1 analogues into cardiology practice to optimize patient care.
