Internal Medicine Resident
University of Calgary, Canada
Dr. Ryan Cook is an Internal Medicine resident at the University of Calgary with a strong academic and clinical interest in cardiology. He completed his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree at the University of Alberta before pursuing residency training in Calgary. Within cardiology, he has particular interests in arrhythmias, advanced heart failure and cardiac critical care. His primary research focus thus far lies in health economics and optimal resource allocation in atrial fibrillation, specifically with regards to catheter ablation. His work provides an economic rationale for healthcare policy reform to reduce wait times for ablation and improve patient access to care. Outside of medicine, Dr. Cook is a former competitive athlete, having represented both Team Alberta and Team Canada in Team Handball at multiple international tournaments. He continues to pursue fitness in his free time, enjoys hiking in the Rockies and spending time with his 6-year old Samoyed dog Bella.
