Electrophysiology Fellow
Queen's University, Canada
I am a cardiologist from Chile with a deep passion for electrophysiology and patient-centred care. In 2020, I decided to come to Canada to pursue advanced training in Adult Cardiac Electrophysiology. I began this journey with a three-year fellowship at Sunnybrook Hospital, part of the University of Toronto, where I had the honour of becoming the first fellow in the program to achieve AFC accreditation in this specialty. During that time, I also completed focused training in left atrial appendage device implantation, expanding my skills in innovative structural heart therapies.
In August 2023, I joined the Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at Queen’s University, based at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Here, I continue to refine my expertise in complex electrophysiological procedures and contribute actively to academic work through research articles, case reports, and book chapters. Presenting high-complexity cases from Kingston General Hospital at clinical competitions has been a rewarding part of my training, and I’m grateful for the recognition some of those presentations have received.
Beyond clinical work, I’m deeply committed to education and teamwork. Supporting colleagues, mentoring co-fellows, and being part of a collaborative environment is something I truly value. I strive to provide not only excellent care but also to be a respectful and compassionate presence for patients, nurses, and all members of the healthcare team.
This journey has been both challenging and fulfilling, and I remain dedicated to advancing electrophysiology while always placing humanity at the center of what I do.
