Person with Living Experience
As a patient partner, peer support leader, and communicator, I am passionate about improving patient experiences and outcomes by translating knowledge into meaningful tools, resources, dialogue, and support. Since 2015, I have worked closely with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) as an active patient partner, where I’ve contributed to clinical and research initiatives by co-creating patient-facing resources, advising on engagement strategies, and helping integrate lived experience into the care and research environment. Since then, I have expanded my involvement to include collaborations with numerous research teams, CANet (Cardiovascular Network of Canada) and HeartLife. I am also a Global Heart Hub affiliate.
My professional background in public service—spanning communications, policy, change management, and program delivery—complements my lived experience navigating chronic disease. This combination helps me to translate complex information into accessible tools that empower patients. Whether it's through podcast hosting, webinars, or project/committee participation, I focus on ensuring that patient voices shape decision-making, research priorities, and care design.
I received my Master of Arts in Public Administration (Carleton Univeristy), have a certificate in Public Dialogue, Deliberation and Engagement, as well as a certificate in Human Systems Dynamics.
I believe deeply in the power of shared experience, public dialogue, and peer support. My ongoing involvement with women’s heart health programming, storytelling, and national-level initiatives reflects a commitment to making health systems more compassionate, inclusive, and responsive to those they serve.
