Clinical Pharmacist with Atrial Fibrillation Clinic
Island Health, Canada
Trevor Elton completed a Master’s degree in Microbiology in 2005 before pursuing studies in Pharmacy at the University of Alberta. He completed his pharmacy residency in 2010, during which he contributed to patient-driven research with COMPRIS, helping to define the pharmacist’s role in identifying peripheral arterial disease [see reference].
He later joined Island Health as a clinical pharmacist in cardiac surgery and cardiology. During that time, he developed a series of patient education videos focused on common medications used after a heart attack [see https://www.islandhealth.ca/learn-about-health/medications/learn-about-medications].
Trevor has a strong passion for education and is an active volunteer with Island Heart to Heart, delivering teaching sessions to discharged cardiac patients. Since 2020, he has worked with the Atrial Fibrillation Clinic at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, where he collaborated with Dr. van Zyl to create an antiarrhythmic medication video series, which forms the foundation of this current research.
