Dr Caroline Samhani is a physician and researcher. She completed a medical thesis in France focused on gender dysphoria using a large patient cohort. Her work aimed to better understand cardiovascular risk factors and the effects of gender-affirming hormonal treatments.
She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical sciences at Université Laval (Quebec City, Canada), where she conducts research in preventive cardiology and obesity medicine. Her projects focus on the impact of supervised exercise programs and multidisciplinary approaches on cardiovascular health, body composition, and the prevention of complications after bariatric surgery.
She is also interested in the clinical and physiological causes of cardiovascular risk in specific groups, such as women and transgender individuals. In particular, she studies epicardial and ectopic fat as possible indicators of this risk.
Dr Samhani is committed to sharing knowledge and training healthcare professionals to better tailor care to each patient and reduce health inequalities.
Her background combines clinical practice, research, and participation in conferences in Canada and abroad, where she shares her findings and exchanges with other experts on cardiovascular disease prevention.
