Xander Jacquemyn is a physician-scientist at the intersection of cardiothoracic surgery and artificial intelligence. He is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, where his work centers on surgical outcomes, digital health, and innovation in cardiovascular care. Trained at KU Leuven (MD, summa cum laude), Xander further advanced his expertise through fellowships at Johns Hopkins University and KU Leuven’s Design4Health program. His research applies machine learning, predictive modeling, and immersive technologies to improve decision-making and outcomes in complex heart surgery. He has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and contributes to the field as a trainee editorial board member for the Canadian Journal of Cardiology and related journals.
