Dr. Maria Lopez Laporte graduated from McGill University Medical School in 2018. She completed internal medicine residency at McGill University in 2022. She is a board-certified cardiologist, having completed her cardiology sub-speciality training at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in 2025, where she is currently completing an Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship. She is passionate about women’s cardiovascular health across the lifespan, with a specific interest in heart disease in pregnancy. She is the current Trainee Co-Representative of the Executive Steering Committee of the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance. She will be pursuing further training in women's heart health and cardio-obstetrics. She is the current trainee co-chair of the CCS Heart Valve Disease Working group.
