Dr. Omid Kiamanesh is an academic cardiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiac Sciences and Division of Transplant Medicine at the University of Calgary. He directs the Broderick Cardiomyopathy Program, which includes the Genetic Cardiomyopathy Clinic and the Cardiac Neuromuscular Clinic at the Peter Lougheed Centre. His clinical practice focuses on advanced heart failure, echocardiography, and genetic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies, with a commitment to integrating precision medicine and genomics into cardiovascular care.
Dr. Kiamanesh completed subspecialty fellowships in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation and Advanced Echocardiography at Toronto General Hospital and the University of Calgary, following cardiology and internal medicine residencies at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Kiamanesh leads several funded research initiatives, including the Precision Integration in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (PITCH-HCM) project, the Southern Alberta Cardiomyopathy Registry, and national collaborations through the Canadian Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy (CaNICM) and Genome Canada networks. His research, supported by CIHR, Genome BC/Alberta, and industry partners, focuses on multimodal prediction, genomics, and health-system innovation in cardiomyopathy care.
He serves on the Board of Directors of the Calgary Health Foundation, the Canadian Society of Echocardiography Governance and Awards Committee, and is a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and Libin Cardiovascular Institute.
