Workshop Description: As the number of women with cardiovascular disease of childbearing age continues to rise—driven by the survival of children with congenital heart disease and an increase in pregnancies at older ages—cardiologists face new challenges in managing these complex cases. Over the past decade, the growth of multidisciplinary cardio-obstetric care has significantly improved outcomes, transforming the field. However, with the rising number of pregnancies complicated by cardiovascular disease, it is crucial for cardiologists and intensivists to have a strong understanding of high-risk cardiac anatomy and the management of cardiac complications during pregnancy.
This dynamic, 60-minute interactive workshop will delve into three high-risk cardio-obstetric cases, including the management of a pregnant woman post-cardiac arrest, the diagnosis and treatment of complex maternal arrhythmias, and the care of pregnant patients with severe aortic stenosis. Each case will focus on critical clinical features essential to the care of cardio-obstetric patients and will be reviewed and discussed by a panel of national experts offering valuable advice on patient management. The workshop will emphasize the role of the multidisciplinary team across specialties such as cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, critical care, and obstetrics.
Audience participation is encouraged, with opportunities to ask questions and share insights throughout the session. By the end, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the critical clinical features in managing pregnant women with heart disease and the indispensable role of multidisciplinary care in improving outcomes for these high-risk patients.
