Workshop Description: With the growing use of cardiac imaging technologies (e.g. coronary CT), the number of newly diagnosed coronary anomalies has considerably increased in recent years. Current guidelines provide only general concepts for their diagnosis and treatment. In many types of coronary anomalies, the risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is minimal. However, they still constitute the second most common cause of sudden cardiac death among competitive athletes. Identifying the mostly asymptomatic adult at risk of a potentially catastrophic event is challenging. This workshop uses a patient example to summarize current strategies for risk stratification and outlines how clinical presentation and multimodality evaluation impact on therapeutic opportunities and follow-up plans. The workshop aims to offer management recommendations for the clinician faced with the conundrum of managing coronary anomalies beyond the guideline concepts.
