This session will focus on the latest research findings from international meetings in 2025 and emphasizes showcasing Canadian investigators presenting at major conferences (AHA, ACC, ESC) and leading global trials. These perspectives aim to help participants understand the clinical relevance of new trial data and apply the latest methods in daily practice.

Each trial presentation will be followed by a period of clinical application, panel discussion and Q&A.

1. VANISH2 – Dr. John Sapp
2. BRAIN-AF – Dr. Lena Rivard
3. REFINE ICD – Dr. Katherine Kavanagh
4. NEWTON CABG – Dr. Subodh Verma

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session participants will be able to:
  • analyze the design, methodology, and key findings of late-breaking clinical trials presented at ACC, AHA, and ESC, with a focus on Canadian-led studies such as VANISH2, BRAIN-AF, REFINE ICD and NEWTON CABG.
  • assess the clinical relevance and potential impact of these trials on current cardiovascular practice, particularly in the management of arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, and ischemic heart disease.
  • apply evidence-based insights from Canadian investigators to inform clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes in cardiovascular care.
