Workshop Description: This workshop is part of a new full-day interventional cardiology learning track entitled CAIC-ACCI@CCC2025 on Friday October 24, 2025.
-This session highlights new and emerging clinical research led by the Canadian interventional cardiology community. We will also present the top 2 interventional cardiology abstracts submitted to the Congress, with ample time for discussion.
-We will begin by introducing attendees to the newly-formed CAIC-ACCI Clinical trials network, made possible by the pan-Canadian Accelerated Clinical Trials (ACT) network.
-Dr. Steven Miner will discuss the background, rationale and operations of the new Canadian Coronary Physiology Registry dedicated to improving the care of patients experiencing ischemia related to non-obstructed coronary arteries. This registry focuses on assessment of coronary microvascular dysfunction and coronary epicardial vasospasm.
-Dr Kevin Bainey will next discuss opportunities and challenges associated with conducting clinical trials in Canada with examples from recent clinical trials. Successes, failures, and opportunities for improvement will be highlighted.
-The second half of the hour will be rounded out by oral presentations of the 2 top interventional Cardiology abstracts submitted to CCC2025.
-Drs. Jolly, Miner, and Bainey are world-class speakers with a well-known international reputation in their respective fields.
-Our panel consists of established early career, mid-career and senior-career clinical investigators with interventional cardiology focus.
