Workshop Description: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common inherited cardiac disease, with an estimated prevalence of 1 in 500. It represents a significant cause of morbidity and mortality and has garnered considerable attention in the field of cardiology. There have been significant advances in our understanding of HCM's pathophysiology, epidemiology, and patient management, especially with the introduction of cardiac myosin inhibitors, underscoring the importance of recognizing the diagnosis. Recent guidelines on this topic have been updated (2024 CCS CPU, 2024 AHA/ACC, 2023 ESC), all emphasize the importance of a multimodal imaging approach to HCM. Imaging is crucial in the diagnosis of HCM, identification of obstruction, risk stratification, treatment selection, and long-term follow-up of patients.
This expert-led session will offer a comprehensive and interactive approach to imaging assessment in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Using a case-based, “read with the experts” format, specialists will guide attendees through the key imaging modalities, echocardiography and MRI, highlighting their roles in diagnosis, prognostication, treatment planning, and follow-up. This workshop will emphasize real-world applications, enabling participants to analyze imaging studies and engage in discussions about clinical decision-making for patients with HCM.
